Frequently asked questions

Although we're always pleased to hear from our customers, before you take the trouble to e-mail us, quickly check this short list of FAQ's. The answer you're looking for could be right here.
    • What does it cost me to sell my stock via the CommsKit site?
You can list as many items as you want in the "for sale" section of the site and there will be no charge whatsoever. When an item from your list is sold CommsKit will deduct a 5% commission from the sale price. You may care to take this into account when calculating the prices you require for the items you are selling.

  • Is the price I am quoted, the price I pay?
No. All prices shown are net of VAT and the cost of carriage.
The way your total price is calculated is as follows: You will select one or more items you wish to purchase and place them in your "order form".
The total net cost of the items you have selected is then calculated and, items that you have selected are then calculated and the cost of carriage.
VAT at the standard rate is then added, giving the final total.

  • Is there a minimum amount I need to spend?
No. The whole idea behind CommsKit is that you no longer need to pack your shelves full of unneeded kit just to get maximum discounts. There is nothing more irritating than being forced to buy a multipack of items when you only need one. So we won't make you do that!

  • When CommsKit sells some of my stock, when will I get paid?
That depends on what you've sold. Parts and components will be paid for in 14 days. Full systems will be paid for in 30 days. Payment will be by cheque.

  • What about VAT and invoices?
If you are purchasing items you will receive a VAT invoice from CommsKit for the full amount you are paying including the delivery charges.
If you are selling items, Commskit will invoice you for their 5% commission and will sent this invoice together with a cheque for 95% of the sale proceeds. You will need to let us have your invoice for 100% of the sale price, plus VAT if you are VAT registered.

  • What if I'm not happy with the goods I receive?
When a seller inputs stock onto the site we would expect him or her to describe the goods and their condition honestly and in accordance with the grading levels we have prescribed.
Buyers who believe that they have not received goods that match the site's description of them should lodge their complaint by e-mail just as soon as they have had the opportunity to examine and/or test them.
CommsKit will then instigate a dialogue between the buyer and seller in an attempt to settle the matter amicably and to the satisfaction of both parties. If a compromise cannot be reached, all monies will be returned to the buyer and the goods will be returned to the seller.
The time limits for lodging complaints are as follows: Spares and components within 10 days of receipt Full systems within 25 days of receipt.

  • Can I only sell top quality equipment via you guys?
NO…….You can sell anything you want providing that you describe it accurately and price it accordingly. Remember one man's junk is another man's vital spare part!

  • Can I only pay by credit or debit card?
Paying by credit or debit card will ensure speedy delivery, however if you're happy to wait a few days for non-urgent orders we'll be happy to accept cheques or arrange credit transfers. Provided that you understand that we must have cleared funds, before the goods are shipped.

  • If I am unable to sell something, can I reduce the price?
No problem, just send us an e-mail or call us with the details.

  • Any chance of same day delivery?
Yes.. Obviously at significantly extra cost
Normally if you order by 3.00 pm and we are able to contact the seller (Mon - Fri), we can guarantee delivery the following working day.
However we are aware that an industry such as ours can from time to time require a speedier service than this, so we're looking to bring some faster delivery options on-line. For a small surcharge we can deliver before 9am, before 10.30am or before noon.

  • Do any of the goods come with any form of guarantee?
In some cases yes, if a seller has classified his lot as A1 / A2 / B1 or B2 he/she is guaranteeing that they are in full working order.
Any items classed as C1 > C3 are sold as seen.
This is a brokerage for surplus equipment, some new, some second-hand. That is not to say that you should ever be less than 100% satisfied with the goods you buy. But please, if you require a specific grade of equipment, do not order anything less in the hope that it might be OK. The only reason for returning goods should be if they are not as described.
If you order the wrong items and the seller provides them in good faith, unfortunately you're stuck with them and your only solution is to list them once more for sale on the site.

  • What do I do if my goods don't arrive?E-mail CommsKit and we'll check that they have been dispatched by the seller, then chase the delivery company to find out where the goods are. We'll then get back to you, explain the reason for delay and take any further instructions you may have?

  • How do I know someone wants to buy something that I'm selling?
You will receive an e-mail from CommsKit advising you to package the required items and have them ready for a designated carrier to pick up later that day or the following working day.

  • What if you ask me for an item that I've already sold or maybe used myself?
If you have sold the item via CommsKit, we have systems in place to ensure that your "for sale" list is altered automatically, so that won't be a problem. If however you have disposed of the item yourself, the onus is upon you to inform Commskit. Failure to do so will cause frustration among our customers and reflect badly on our professionalism.

  • As a buyer, can I speak directly to the seller?
No all communication by both parties will be via the CommsKit web site.

  • Do you offer this service in any other country other than the UK?
Yes, we are currently expanding our operation and both selling and sourcing equipment globally, please bear in mind that regular shipping costs will increase, to get something to Vietnam as opposed to Bognor Regis. We do have a network of customers throughout Europe and the republic of Ireland

  • What if I can't find what I want?
Just pick the phone up and talk to us, or fill in the website form and we will find it for you.

  • What do the various grades mean?
We have tried to keep the grading system as easy to use as possible. Please choose from one of the following.
A1 Brand new, Unused and boxed
A2 Brand new but not boxed
B1 Slightly used but not marked
    B2 Used and slightly marked
All the above are guaranteed working condition
C1 Good condition, working condition not known
C2 Considered working condition but not guaranteed
C3 Faulty, in need of repair.
We have tried to keep this as simple as possible and will streamline this system as much as possible in due course.
